Tara Truex - Central Junior High School

Tara Truex is in her 30th year of teaching orchestra. She is the founding director of both the Central Junior High School and L.D. Bell High School Orchestra programs. Since their founding, the Central Junior High School Orchestra program has grown to have six orchestras and over 150 orchestra students. During her tenure in HEB, her orchestras have earned consistent sweepstakes ratings at the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Competition, and the Central Junior High School Chamber Orchestra has been named both a Commended and National winner of the Mark of Excellence National Orchestra Honors competition several times. This year the Central Junior High School Chamber Orchestra was named the first TMEA Invited Program Spotlight Orchestra and she will be leading a clinic and concert with them at TMEA in February.

 

Kevin Torrefiel - Central Junior High School

Kevin Torrefiel is in his 7th year of teaching at Central Junior High School. He currently co-conducts all six Central Junior High School orchestras. In addition to directing, he is an accomplished cellist, and he is currently principal cellist of the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra.
